Frog is an undeniably interesting band, even if their sound is all over the place. Their music unfolds slowly, but the way they build towards a payoff is a reminder of why music is so important when it comes to creative expression. Their last album, Grog, was a wildly confusing yet enjoyable deep dive into experimental bedroom pop. But with 1000 Variations of the Same Song, they take a more refined and serious approach to their sound in the best ways. I believe people will catch onto this more quickly this time around.
